This toolkit on social accountability offers an introduction to basic concepts, theorical underpinnings, applications and barriers for implementing social accountability mechanisms. Many of the tools and methods it describes are illustrated by case studies mainly from the East Asia and Pacific region. It also provides a trainer’s guide to carry out capacity builiding activities (mentoring, coaching and exposure visits) and promote social accountability among civil society groups, public authorities and other key actors.
